FAQs

can we bring our children?

We absolutely love all the little ones in our life - especially our little cousins and our friend’s small ones! However, given that we both have large families and space is limited, we are unable to accommodate children under the age of 18 at our wedding ceremony and reception. We appreciate your understanding and hope that you can use this as an excuse to leave your under-18s at home and let your hair down with us.

Please let us know if you require help making arrangements if you are traveling in from out of town.

can I bring a plus one?

We are very fortunate to have so many friends and family who want to share our day with us, but unfortunately, venue space is limited given that both the bride and groom have large families. As such, we are asking that only those named on the invite attend the ceremony and reception. We appreciate your understanding, and promise there will be plenty of people for you to interact and enjoy yourselves with!

what’s the dress code?

Cocktail attire is requested - i.e. dress pants, button-down shirts and cocktail dresses, or nice slacks. No jeans, please. A kind reminder that the ceremony will be outside, and the weather in August is subject to change. The ceremony will also be on the lawn, so please be aware if you plan to wear heels!

where can I park?

You can park right here in the NORTH or WEST parking lot (we would recommend the West parking lot since the venue is close to “Zoo Security”). It is $13 to park. Howver, parking at the Zoo is first come, first serve, so please be aware parking in the west lot may be full, and you may need to park in the North lot and walk to the conservatory gardens.

A final note - if you do drive and end up consuming alcohol, all vehicles are to be removed from the parking lot by 11 a.m. the following day.

how do I get into the zoo?

When you park or arrive at the North or West parking lot, there is an entrance gate where you simply can say you are here for the Hebert-Brieter wedding! You are welcome to arrive three hours prior to our ceremony to explore the zoo, visit some animals, and take some pictures with friends and family! Just note that there is no entry to our reception venue prior to the ceremony, so we will be unable to store bags or any other items prior to the ceremony.

can I pet the lions at midnight?

Short answer - no. While you are more than welcome to explore the zoo three hours prior to our ceremony, once the zoo closes to the public at 6 p.m., you will be unable to visit the animals. It’s for your own good, we promise.

are there smoking areas?

Unfortunately, there is a strict “no smoking” policy at the Calgary Zoo. Should you wish to vape or smoke, we kindly ask that you step out of the Zoo grounds to do so. This includes the patio area just outside of the reception space.

will booze be provided?

It wouldn’t be a Brieter-Hebert wedding without drinks and dancing! There will be a toonie bar at the reception. We ask you to drink responsibly, plan a ride ahead of time, and Uber to wherever you plan to lay your head down. Please no drinking and driving!
