Eric & Michelle first met each other on a sunny June 17th evening in 2015 at CRAFT in Calgary - which, considering Michelle doesn’t drink beer, and Eric is a celiac, is still a point of contention on who decided to chose that for their first date.
One date lead into two, then three, and soon the two of them were seeing each other every weekend and every chance that they could, going on picnics, exploring back roads, drinking a ton of Somersby, and just enjoying each other’s company as the summer went on. They both realized as August came to a close they weren’t ready to give each other up, and as Eric moved to Victoria in his Prelude, and Michelle to Lethbridge in her “fancy Civic” they decided to try doing long-distance.
5 years later, following countless flights, hours of driving, five moves, two cats, many vehicles, and a pandemic, Eric proposed on a Tuesday in October of 2020 - after convincing Michelle that he was going to get her garlic parm fries, and distracting her by saying “oh look, it’s a baby beaver” before getting down on one knee. Even though Michelle didn’t get her garlic fries that day (and there was no beaver to be seen), the ring was a far better surprise - and she did eventually get the fries that she was bribed with.
They are now very excited to finally be tying the knot after COVID delayed their plans multiple times. They’re both looking forward to their two families and their loved ones coming together and celebrating the nine years that they’ve since spent together - and the many more to come.
